Known as the first Black Man to sellout Madison Square Garden in 1919, Marcus Mosiah Garvey was on a mission for Black Liberation. Garvey, a Jamaican political activist, publisher, journalist, entrepreneur, and orator, started the Universal Negro Improvement Association (a black nationalist fraternal organization) in 1914. Believing always in the Brotherhood of Man and the Fatherhood of God, the UNIA-ACL was founded by persons, desire ng to the utmost, to work for the general uplift of the Negro peoples of the world. Through his use of the free press, Garvey spread the idea of a united Negro agenda across the world.
